A Brief Introduction to the Classification of Silymarin

Product introduction:

Silmyarin (silybum marinaum (L) Gaenrt) is a kind of flavonoid lignans derived from the condensation of dihydroflavonol and phenylpropanoid derivatives from the fruits and seeds of Silybum marinaum (L) Gaenrt. At present, the content of total flavonoid lignans in silybin preparations (trade name is Ligalon, Yiganling and Milk Thistle, etc.) is about 80%. Silybin (silibinin), isosilybin (isosilibinin), siliehristin (siliehristin), and silidinin (silidinin) are the four isomers, among which silybin is the most abundant and has the highest hepatoprotective activity.

Function: This product has the inhibitory effect on lipoxygenase and peroxidase. It is clinically used for the treatment of liver poisoning, liver dysfunction, anti-radiation and hypolipidemic effect.

A large number of studies have shown that silymarin and silymarin compounds have a wide range of pharmacological activities. The main activities of silymarin and silymarin compounds can be summarized as follows:

1. Scavenging reactive oxygen species directly, peroxidation of Hangzhou lipid and maintaining the fluidity of cell membrane;

Hepatoprotective effect

Silymarin has protective effects on liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride, galactosamine, alcohols and other hepatotoxins.

3. Antineoplastic effect

Various reactive oxygen species can oxidize bird song to form 8-antelope-based bird song, which causes DNA damage and cancer. Antioxidants, especially free radical scavengers, can prevent this process from occurring.

4. Anti-cardiovascular effects

Ksoottva et al. studied the oxidative effect of silymarin extract on high cholesterol and low density lipoprotein in mice. The mice were fed with polyunsaturated fatty acids containing silymarin extract and a small amount of saturated fatty acids. Compared with mice fed with polyunsaturated fatty acids and a small amount of saturated fatty acids, the serum cholesterol content of the former decreased significantly, the VLDL hair decreased slightly, and HDL-C hair decreased slightly. The increase of silymarin indicated that silymarin increased LDL resistance.

5. Protective effect of cerebral ischemia injury

Fengquan et al. used four-vessel occlusion method to induce rat global cerebral ischemia model to explore the protective mechanism of silymarin on cerebral ischemic injury. By observing the expression of silymarin on nitric oxide and nitric oxide synthase in brain homogenate, it was shown that silymarin significantly reduced the content of NO and NOS in brain tissue of ischemic rats, while significantly reduced the infarct area. Therefore, it is concluded that silymarin can improve the body's antioxidant capacity and has a significant protective effect on cerebral ischemic injury.

Application scope: From prevention and treatment of acute and chronic hepatitis to anti-aging, prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and so on.

Drug Alias: Silymarin, Yiganling, Silybin, Silymarin, LEGALON

English Name: Silibinin

Drug Description: Tablets (Yiganling Tablets): 35 mg, 38.5 mg per tablet.

Function: pharmacological and toxicological test results show that this product has obvious protective and stabilizing effects on liver cell membrane. It has different degrees of protection and therapeutic effects on various types of liver injury induced by carbon tetrachloride, thioacetamide, muscarinic acid, phelinic acid, porpotoxin and other liver poisons, and has a certain resistance to the increase of alanine aminotransferase induced by carbon tetrachloride. Stop action. It is suitable for the treatment of chronic persistent hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis, early cirrhosis, liver poisoning and other diseases. Clinical trial for acute and chronic hepatitis patients, symptoms, signs, liver function have been significantly improved.

Usage and dosage: Take 2 tablets orally, 3 times a day, or follow the doctor's advice.

Note: This product is generally prescription medicine. Structural Formula of Silymarin Components

Nowadays, this kind of medicine used to cure diseases and save people has been endowed with brand-new connotation by cosmetics manufacturers. It is understood that researchers from a cosmetic manufacturer abroad have found that this product has antioxidant and anti-aging effects. Soon, they will treat it slightly and apply it in cosmetics.

Silmyarin is a kind of flavonoid lignans extracted from the seed coat of silymarin, a medicinal plant of Compositae. It is yellow powder and tastes bitter. The main active ingredients are silybin, Isosilybin, Silychristin and Silydianin. The content of silybin is 50% - 70%, and the structure is shown in the right figure. Silymarin has been used to treat liver and gallbladder diseases for more than 2000 years. Silymarin, as its main active ingredient, can prevent liver damage caused by chemical toxins, food toxins and drugs, and promote the regeneration and repair of liver cells. Silymarin is called "natural hepatoprotective drug". As a strong antioxidant, it can eliminate free radicals in human body and delay aging. In recent years, silybin has attracted much attention because of its activities other than liver protection and antioxidant activity. The anticancer and cancer prevention effects of silybin have shown great potential for development. It is widely used in medicine, health care products, food and cosmetics and other products. Properties: White crystalline powder. It is odorless, slightly bitter and astringent, and has moisture-inducing property. Soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol, ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform, almost insoluble in water. Monohydrate (methanol-water), mp. 180 C; anhydrous, mp. 158 C (180 C decomposition).
