Shengbo & Silymarin

Know the origin of Silymarin

Silymarin is the essence extract of Silybum Marianum from the Kashmir mountains of India and Pakistan. Milk-white juice comes from the stems and leaves of silymarin when they are cut, so people in Europe and the United States named it Milk Thistle. Another name of silymarin, Mary's Milk, is named after a popular story to the effect that when the Virgin Mary feeds her milk, she accidentally drips a drop of silymarin on it, so that the juice of the silymarin turns Milky white. Silymarin contains silybin, silydianin and silychristin, among which silybin has the most significant protective effect on liver.
